Oral Fast Dissolving Technology

Our oral fast dissolving technologies mainly include oral fast dissolving films and orally disintegrating tablets.

An oral fast-dissolving film (OFDF) or oral thin film (OTF) is a novel drug delivery system that incorporates active chemical ingredients or TCM extracts into thin films. When placed on the tongue, the film rapidly dissolves in saliva to release the drug without the need for water.

Representative products: Sildenafil OTFs, tadalafil OTFs.

An orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) is a novel oral dosage form that is comprised of microencapsulated drugs and soluble excipients, such as mannitol and sorbitol. ODTs rapidly disintegrate in the oral cavity with no water (or a small amount of water) before being swallowed into the GI tract. There is no buccal absorption. ODTs are absorbed and metabolized similarly to conventional tablets. Compared with conventional dosage forms, ODTs feature convenient administration, rapid absorption, high bioavailability, and low GI irritation. ODTs can dissolve within seconds in saliva, or rapidly disintegrate in the mouth. This novel dosage form is ideal for children, the elderly, and bedridden or severely disabled patients.

Representative products: Sildenafil ODTs, aripiprazole ODTs, bepotastine besilate ODTs.
